A 21-year-old Indian-origin honours student, weeks away from graduating and beginning her career, was among three people killed in a mass shooting in Austin, Texas. Savitha Shan, remembered as a high-achieving and deeply involved student, died in an attack that authorities are investigating as a possible act of terrorism.
The shooting took place at around 2 a.m. on Sunday outside Buford’s Backyard Beer Garden, a bar popular with college-age patrons in Austin’s 6th Street entertainment district, near the campus of the University of Texas at Austin.
