We've already had one big Love Island twist this week, but in yet another one, former islander Kady McDermott is making her dramatic return to the villa—but what season was Kady on Love Island and what went down? Here's all the tea on the OG islander...
Like with Love Island 2022, when notorious bad boy, Adam Collard returned to the villa, former contestant, Kady is about to slow-mo walk straight back into the villa. Kady famously starred in one of the earliest Love Island UK series, meaning her return is pretty darn iconic.
So, while we prepare for all the memorable moments set to ensue from this latest addition to the season 10 lineup, here's a debrief on everything Kady—from what season she starred in, to who she coupled up with and finally, why she's back...
Who is Kady McDermott?
As mentioned, Kady is different from all the other bombshells who are set to cross the villa's threshold this summer, as she's actually a returning Love Island star.
Aside from her stint on the hit ITV dating show though, the former makeup artist has gone on to have a successful influencing career with lingerie collections, brand deals and amassing over 1.2 million Insta followers. But mainly, she's known for making it all the way to the final of the second-ever season of Love Island (and arguably one of the best Love Island UK seasons ever) and let's just say, her stay in the villa was nothing short of explosive...
What season was Kady on 'Love Island?
Kady starred in Love Island 2016, which was the second season of the dating show.
She appeared alongside the likes of Malin Andersson, Olivia Buckland and Alex Bowen—who are among the Love Island couples still together—and of course, the winning couple, Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey.
How old is Kady?
For anyone curious about Kady's age following her first Love Island stint seven years ago, Kady is now 27.
She is just a year older than current islanders Mitchell, Leah and Medhi.
How old was Kady on 'Love Island' the first time around?
Kady was 20 years old when she first entered the villa as one of the season's first bombshells.
As for who Kady was with during her time on the show, upon arriving, she truly lived up to her bombshell title by turning the head of Scott Thomas who was coupled up with Zara Holland.
What happened in Kady McDermott's 'Love Island' series?
Her time in the villa wasn't exactly plain sailing, as Kady was involved in a number of fierce arguments—including that fight with fellow bombshell Malia Arkian, after accidentally spilling wine on her leg (this has gone down in history as one of the most dramatic Love Island moments ever). Malia was then removed from the villa shortly afterwards, following an altercation with Kady.
It wasn't all drama for Kady though, as she did become a firm viewer favorite and went on to the final, snagging third place with Scott. Alas, their relationship didn't stand the test of time though, as they split in December 2017.
Why is Kady McDermott back on 'Love Island'?
As for why she's decided to return, Kady told ITV: "Not many people can say they’ve been on Love Island, let alone have done it twice! I think I’m known from season 2 for being so chaotic. People always ask, ‘Do you have regrets?’ expecting me to say yes, but I was so true to myself and I was 100% authentic. I’ll still be like that now, but seven years on, I am more mature. I’m still the fiery pocket rocket but I know what I want and what I don’t want."
As for her second villa stint, Kady said: "Don’t get me wrong, I’m still going to be me and the fire I have is in my soul, I’ll never get rid of that and I love that about me, but I’m a lot more emotionally mature now, so I know how to navigate things better. I’ve grown up a lot. Last time I got with Scott straight away and I was so ‘tunnel vision’. It’ll be interesting to see what connections I’ll form this time. "
And if you wondering who the villa alumn has her eye on, Kady said: "Zach’s my number one, Tyrique on looks, but he might need his ego putting down a little bit. I also want to get to know Mitch."
She's not going to play games, though adding: "The next person I’m with I want that to be marriage and babies. I don’t want to waste any more time with the wrong people—so I think I’ll be a lot pickier than what I was when I was previously in the Villa. Seven years on, I think I’m allowed to be pickier now. In the Villa, I think I’ll take my time. "
We can't wait to see what OG bombshell, Kady does to the villa dynamic ahead of Casa Amor!
