It wasn’t easy watching cornerback Cameron Sutton leave the Pittsburgh Steelers in free agency. It isn’t often the Steelers actually draft and develop a cornerback so Sutton was a big success story. But because Sutton is now gone, the Steelers may have to try again and select another cornerback in the 2023 NFL draft.
There are plenty of draft pundits who feel like the best course of action for Pittsburgh is to draft that replacement with the No. 17 overall pick. While we disagree with the philosophy, we are going to leave it up to you all to make the call this time around.
In this class of cornerbacks there are really four players worthy of being taken in the first round and at least one of them should be on the board when the Steelers pick. But this is about picking from the top four.
Few positions in the NFL are more scheme-dependant than cornerback. This is why it is very difficult to predict the other with which these four will be drafted. Here are the four best options:
Devon Witherspoon – Illinois
Christian Gonzalez – Oregon
Joey Porter Jr. – Penn State
Deonte Banks – Maryland
Cast your vote and tell us which of these would be your pick for the Steelers in the first round.
