Who is Tom Grennan, set to play in Soccer Aid 2022 at the London Stadium?

The 11th edition of Soccer Aid will get underway tonight (Sunday) at the London Stadium but there may be some unfamiliar faces in the line-up. The annual charity football match pits England against a world XI, with the two teams comprised of celebrities and ex-players.

Singer-Songwriter Tom Grennan will be among those taking part, the 26-year-old will be lining up for the Three Lions. However, he was part of the World XI at last year’s event at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium.

Grennan first came to prominence after starring as the guest vocalist for Chase & Status’ hit single “All Gone Wrong” in 2016. Since then, the Bedford native has been nominated for a number of gongs including the Pop Awards for Emerging Artist of the year in 2019.

His debut album “Lighting Matches” achieved a Gold rating after peaking at number five in the Official UK Albums charts. Grennan’s follow-up album titled “Evening Road” was released in March of last year and reached number one.

He was encouraged to take up performing by friends after impressing them with his vocal skills whilst singing along to The Kooks’ hit “Seaside” at a house party. He subsequently started gigging around London and a few years later, was offered a contract by Insanity Records.

Grennan trained with Luton Town in 2019 and is a boyhood Manchester United fan. Since Soccer Aid’s inception 16 years ago, the event has raised over £60millon for children's charity UNICEF.
