Who is Nandil, son of Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, who cleared Ironman?

Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday revealed that his son, Nandil Sarma, has completed the Ironman event, regarded as one of the toughest endurance competitions in the world.

The Ironman is a gruelling single-day test of stamina and determination in which participants must complete a 3.8-km swim, a 180-km cycling race and a full 42.2-km marathon — all back-to-back.

Sharing the achievement on X, the Assam chief minister wrote, “On 10 May, my son Nandil, currently in his fifth year at the National Law School of India University in Bengaluru, took on this extraordinary challenge at Ironman Vietnam. After just 7-8 months of preparation, he completed the challenge in approximately 16 hours.”

“As a father, it fills me with immense pride to see his discipline, determination and perseverance. I wish him the very best for the journey ahead and for many more milestones in life,” he added.

Many users congratulated both the chief minister and his son. One X user wrote, “Heartiest congratulations to Nandil and proud compliments to you Sir. To survive law school itself is often projected as an endurance sport, but adding an Ironman finish on top of NLSIU deadlines is bordering on constitutional heroism.”

Another commented, “Like father, like son. Father is also Ironman of Assam. Congratulations to Nandil and to the entire family.”
