Who is Molly Rainford on BBC Strictly Come Dancing 2022?

She's had the experience and pressures of a TV competition before and now Molly Rainford is taking on a new challenge with Strictly Come Dancing. The 21-year-old is the youngest in this year's competition as the BBC One dance contest returns for its 20th series.

Strictly judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and head judge Shirley Ballas are all back, alongside hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman who will keep the dancing ship moving right up until Christmas.

And Molly joins the likes of former Coronation Street stars Kym Marsh and Will Mellor, Countryfile host Helen Skelton, Bros legend Matt Goss, Hits Radio host and singer Fleur East and EastEnders actor James Bye who will also be hoping to impress the judges and viewers this year.

Singer and actress Molly Rainford was the 10th contestant to be confirmed for the BBC one show. She appeared in series six of Britain’s Got Talent and stunned Simon Cowell and his fellow judges away at the age of just 11 as she belted out Jennifer Hudson’s One Night Only.

She became the show's youngest ever finalist and after performing Ave Maria in the final, she finished in sixth place. The series saw Ashley and Pudsey take the crown.

Following BGT she began studying at the Sylvia Young Theatre School. And Molly is currently starring in the lead role as intergalactic pop superstar Nova Jones in the hit CBBC show Nova Jones. The second season of the show is set to air this year, while a third has already been filmed.

As well as her acting career, Molly has also released two EPs, including her single Commitment. Speaking about signing up for the hit show, Molly said: "I’m so excited to be part of Strictly Come Dancing, I’ve watched it for years and can’t wait to meet the pros and the others taking part."

And despite being used to being on stage and in front of a camera, her dancing hasn't always seen her at the top of the class. " I wouldn't say I'm the worst dancer in the world but I also wouldn't say I’m the best," Molly said. "At school I was always chosen to be a singer and never even considered for the dancing and I’ve never tried ballroom or Latin, so that’s all very new to me."
