Josh Kerr etched his name into athletics history after breaking the long-standing men's world mile record at the London Diamond League on Saturday. The 28-year-old British middle-distance runner delivered a stunning performance in front of a packed 60,000-strong crowd at London Stadium, clocking 3 minutes 42.68 seconds to surpass a record that had stood for nearly three decades.
Kerr's remarkable run eclipsed the previous world record of 3:43.13, set by Moroccan legend Hicham El Guerrouj in 1999. Ironically, Kerr was just one year old when El Guerrouj established the milestone that many believed would stand for generations.
