Jodie Prenger is to join Coronation Street in a brand new role - but you might recognise her from elsewhere.
The actress will appear on TV screens from August onwards in a new role as Glenda, the sister of the Cobbles undertaker George Shuttleworth, but she has a huge career to her name already - including a stint on a reality TV show.
Glenda will shake up the Cobbles on her arrival, quickly making lots of best friends - but also enemies too.
Producer Iain MacLeod said: "Glenda sails in fresh from the cruise ships with a whiff of the exotic, quickly making best friends and enemies in equal measure. The character is loads of fun and has echoes of classic Coronation Street females of old.
"Jodie is a fabulous talent and we are all very excited to have her aboard. She has felt very Corrie since the moment she stepped onto set and I think the viewers will love her."
Jodie has described the role as a "dream part" for her as her and her family are huge fans.
"I know I sound like a soppy sod, but it’s been on my bucket list to be in Coronation Street since I was little. It’s an honour, it truly is a very special moment in my life. To be part of something my family and I have loved for so long," she said in a statement.
"And what a character, oh I have to say, total dream part. I can't wait for you all to meet fun and sassy Glenda, George Shuttleworth's sister. I love Tony Maudsley already, what a fella! Your first day on the cobbles is one of the most nerve wrecking experiences you’ll go though and everyone was just so gloriously lovely, kind and welcoming. It was, and is, everything I expected, and more."
But Jodie has a huge past career - and she rose to fame by starring on reality show I'd Do Anything, which aired on the BBC back in 2008. She won the show and went on to play Nancy in Oliver in the West End.
She has also starred as Miss Hannigan in Annie as well as appearing in One Man Two Guvnors in London. She toured the UK in the lead role in Shirley Valentine and starred as Kelly in Kay Mellor's Fat Friends the musical. She also appeared in the National Theatre production of A Taste of Honey, where she played a character called Helen.
Jodie has also some of her own cruise singer experience, having appeared on Disney Wonder for several months as one of the main entertainers, just like her character Glenda has too.
