British novelist and television producer Jane Fallon has announced that she is undergoing treatment for breast cancer after a routine screening detected a malignant area. In a public update shared on social media, Fallon said the diagnosis was identified at a very early stage and that doctors have told her her prognosis is excellent. The announcement prompted messages of support from readers, colleagues and followers of her long-term partner, comedian Ricky Gervais.
