An new challenge show is set to air on BBC One this week. Freeze the Fear will have eight celebrity contestants put through challenging trials in the hope of testing their limits and championing through the cold climate of the Italian mountains in sub-zero conditions.
The show will air episodes over the span of a few weeks and challenges will range from jumping into an ice pool to see how long they can last, to more adrenaline stunts. Each contestant who takes part in this series has their own individual reason for taking part in the BBC show.
One thing that unifies them all is that they are all hoping that they can emerge from the experience feeling happier, healthier and stronger.
Who is in the Freeze the Fear line-up?
The Freeze the Fear line-up consists of eight celebrity candidates including French football coach Patrice Evra, former professional gymnast Gabby Logan and singer Alfie Boe.
Joining them in the contestant line-up is actor Tamzin Outhwaite, journalist Owain Wyn Evans, Strictly Come Dancing’s Dianne Buswell, rapper Professor Green and singer Chelcee Grimes.
Who are the presenters in Freeze the Fear?
This Morning’s Holly Willoughby and Comedian Lee Mack will be hosting Freeze the Fear accompanying contestants as they go through the challenges.
The record-breaking, global sensation Wim Hof, otherwise known as ‘’The Ice Man’’ will be guiding the eight contestants through each challenge. Hof believes that embracing the cold, even in such extreme conditions, can change their lives for the better.
The Dutchman and extreme athlete has broken a number of records related to cold exposure. This includes climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in shorts, running a half marathon above the Arctic Circle barefoot, and standing in a container while covered with ice cubes for more than 112 minutes.
This puts him in a suited position to be guiding the celebrity contestants through these challenges in this brand new series.
