Hannah Waddingham will host the Eurovision Song Contest this year, alongside presenter Graham Norton, British singer Alesha Dixon, and Ukrainian singer Julia Sanina.
Norton has been the UK television commentator since 2009, so it’s no surprise that he’s set to lead the show.
As for Waddingham, TV fans will recognise her from hit shows such as Ted Lasso and Game of Thrones.
She, Dixon and Sanina will front the two semi-finals on and May 9 and 11, with Norton joining them for the grand final on Saturday, May 13.
The UK is hosting on behalf of 2022 winner Ukraine, which cannot stage the annual contest due to Russia’s ongoing invasion.
Waddingham shared the news of her hosting duties on Twitter, saying: “Couldn’t be more thrilled to be joining the Eurovision family this year of all years. #IStandWithUkraine.”
She added in a separate statement: “It’s one of the world’s greatest music festivals. But this year, perhaps more than ever, it is such a great honour to be standing shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine, a country which has carried itself with such strength and unity.”
Couldn’t be more thrilled to be joining the @Eurovision family this year of all years. #IStandWithUkraine ❤️❤️❤️ https://t.co/cfylDQTI0p
