Helen Haines, the independent federal MP for Indi, has lost both legs after she was allegedly struck by a vehicle outside her electorate office in Wangaratta, north-east Victoria.

Her husband confirmed that the 65-year-old underwent amputations following the incident, which police say left her with 'catastrophic' injuries.
