In last night’s episode of Love Island, the contestants (and viewers) were treated to a private performance by one of the UK’s biggest musical acts.
Once the text pinged to announce the evening’s activity, the islanders could not contain their excitement. Who would it be? Perhaps David Guetta, as Tasha suggested? It wouldn’t be completely mad: past years have seen Craig David, Tom Zanetti, Sean Paul and Mabel grace the TV show’s stage.
Then, later that evening the singer was revealed: the surprise concert would be given by none other than Becky Hill.
If there is a little bit of a tumbleweed situation going on in your mind, you are not alone. It seems that tonnes of people across the UK had the same thought: who on earth is Becky Hill?
“Not being funny guys, who is becky hill,” wrote one viewer on Twitter.
“The islanders staring at Becky Hill trying to figure out who she is and why she’s just started singing,” posted another.
“Loool screaming at all of them pretending to not only know who becky hill is but to be huge fans,” added a third.

However, there were some people who came out in the singer’s defence.
“Why are people slating Becky Hill she’s class her songs are bangers,” Tweeted one.
“Becky hill only has anthems,” said another.
“Damn Becky Hill can singggggg! Whattt?! Beautiful performance,” wrote another.

For those of you who are still in the dark, it’s likely that you’ve heard some of Hill’s songs, but have never put a face or a name to them.
Her latest single, the April-released Crazy What Love Can Do, was made alongside David Guetta and British singer Ella Henderson. It went to number 11 on the UK singles charts and number six on the UK dance charts.
The 28-year-old rose to fame on the UK’s first series of The Voice in 2012, where she joined Jessie J’s team and made it all the way to the semi-final.
Since then, the singer, who makes mostly dance tracks, has gone on to earn a number one for her 2014 song Gecko, and won a BRIT Award in 2022 for Best Dance Act.
Hill has over 21 million monthly listens on Spotify, and her song Lose Control – made alongside Meduza and Goodboys – has been listened to over 750 million times.
As if that wasn’t enough, the singer also had songwriting credits on K-Pop band Aespa’s 2022 track Life’s Too Short (English Version) and on MistaJam’s 2019 track Ultimatum.
Posting on her Instagram about her upcoming performance, Hill said: “I have heard there’s a brand new bombshell entering the villa tonight... to sing some tunes. All I’m saying is you don’t want to miss this.”
The singer will next be playing in London at the South Facing Festival at Crystal Palace Park on August 7.
