Auston Trusty is reportedly on Rangers' radar ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Daily Mail have linked the American with a £2million move to Ibrox.
Michael Beale has made no secret of the sheer scale of the rebuild job he has at the Light Blues this pre-season.
So, Trusty could be a player we hear more about over the coming weeks.
Here's all you need to know about Trusty.
Who is Auston Trusty?
Trusty is 24 years old and is from the United States.
Born in Pennsylvania, he started his career in the USL Championship after signing a deal with Bethlehem Steel FC.
In 2016, he penned a homegrown contract with Philadelphia Union. He eventually made his MLS bow around two years later.
His impressive former saw him move to Colorado Rapids in 2019. He went on to make 61 appearances at the club.
Arsenal then signed Trusty last January in 2022. He signed a permanent deal with the Premier League clubs, but he was sent back to Colorado on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
This term, he's been a mainstay in Birmingham City's defence, as he gained some valuable loan experience of English football.
What type of player in Auston Trusty?
Trusty in a powerful defender who mainly plays as a centre-back, but has been known to fill in as a left-back.
The American is left-footed, so he could be viewed as a potentially good partner at the back with Connor Goldson, providing that balance. There has been speculation that this move could spell the end for Ben Davies.
He comes in at 6ft2' and, like most centre-halves, is regarded as being good in the air. His physicality would certainly prove to be beneficial in the Premiership.
Trusty has four goals in 44 appearances for Birmingham this campaign. This tells us that he provides a goal threat in opposition boxes too. With set pieces such a big part of the modern game, this is always a desirable attribute.
Overall, Trusty appears to be an athletic, dependable player with the potential to step up a level from the Championship.
What does the future hold for Auston Trusty?
Speaking to Birmingham Live, Trusty admitted his future was uncertain at this time.
However, he did admit his burning desire to ply his trade in the Premier League at some point in the future.
He said: “We’ll see as time comes. Our season is not done yet and the Prem season is not done yet, Arsenal are fighting for the championship. A lot is to come in the future but as a footballer those are problems you want. It’s all a good thing.
“As a player you want to play with the best, wherever that is. Right now the Prem is probably the best league in the world so that is obviously the goal for myself and my future.”
Birmingham head coach John Eustace wants to sign the player permanently.
He said: “He is very robust, he is an athlete, very fit, a top professional, he has come over from the States and he is just living football. He has got no distractions.
"He goes home, watches football, comes back, plays football, eats the right stuff. He is a true professional and I think him coming back in the team last week – what a difference it made.
“I would love to keep him. I am sure there is a chance, definitely – but it’s out of my control. All I can say is I would love to keep him at the football club and I think all the fans would love to see him stay at the football club as well. When we want to build those are the kind of characters we want here so he would be top of my list.”
