Who is Amir Khan's wife - unusual living arrangement, cheating and wedding fail

Amir Khan recently returned to our screens by swapping boxing in the ring for eating questionable foods in the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! jungle.

The former professional boxer, who retired from boxing last year, joined fellow I'm A Celeb alumni Carol Vorderman, Jordan Banjo and more in the South African jungle.

He filmed the series last year and recently made an admission about his wedding to his wife Faryal Makhdoom, with who he wed in 2013.

The star spent an incredible £1million on his wedding and invited 4,000 guests - but admitted to his campmates that he didn't really enjoy the big day.

Amir and Faryal had a rollercoaster of a relationship after meeting in 2011 with a brief split and cheating scandals.

The duo were introduced by mutual friends and Faryal previously said it was 'like being in a movie'.

But who is Faryal? Here, we take a look at their relationship...

Who is Faryal Makhdoom?

Faryal, 31, is a Pakistani-American YouTuber and model who was born in Brooklyn, USA.

Her father Shaukat and mother Zia own a luxury home on Staten Island.

The YouTuber did a double major in political science and journalism at Rutgers University School of Arts & Science.

She was mainly known as a model but also gained recognition with her popular make-up tutorials on YouTube.

Faryal used to own her own make-up company called Shop Faryal but it was reported that it was dissolved in 2020.

Marriage and Children

The US-born star met Amir in 2011 and, one year later, he got down on one knee and proposed to her.

"We clicked right away, he was really respectful towards me, he was really nice and different to other boys," she said.

In May 2013, the couple tied the knot in a lavish wedding at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.

They held a second wedding in his hometown in Bolton.

It wasn't long after that the couple welcomed their first child, Lamaisah, eight, and then their other two children Alayna, four, and Muhammad, two.

The boxer recently revealed he feared his children would grow up fatherless after having a weapon pointed at his face in London last year while being robbed.

“In that moment, you think the worst - that the kids could be growing up without their dad, that Faryal would be raising them on her own," he told The Sun on Sunday.

Wedding Admission

While talking to his I'm A Celeb campmates, Amir admitted he didn't get the opportunity to enjoy his wedding in Bolton.

He explained: "I had 4,000 people at my wedding.

"I mean there's family who then called family and friends. Everyone likes to be there, like they want big groups to come. And then if you call one family member they want to bring in the auntie, uncle, cousin.

"I must have spent about a million pounds on my wedding.

"The ice cream man got an invitation as well!"

When Fatima Whitbread said it was a waste of money, Amir revealed he regretted spending that money.

"I didn't get to enjoy it, to be honest with you. It was that busy and there were that many people there," he said.

Cheating Scandals

It hasn't always been smooth sailing between Amir and Faryal as the two lived through multiple cheating scandals.

In 2017, Amir took to Twitter and accused his wife of sleeping with boxer Anthony Joshua.

The married couple had an incredible 80-minute Twitter exchange before agreeing to separate.

They eventually rekindled their marriage and, two years later, he opened up about the incident.

"It was a made-up message," he told ESPN. "A lot of people were making all these fake messages saying that 'Joshua messaged your wife and she messaged him back.'

"Then I posted it on social media and said, 'This has happened and it's true. And I'm calling it over. She's no longer my wife.'

"I did feel bad, I did feel stupid at the time but the damage was done. I made that mistake in tweeting something and putting it out. I was just digging a deeper and deeper hole.

Last year, Anthony responded to a fan who asked if the old rumours were true.

One fan asked: "AJ lad did you f*** Mrs Khan back in the day?" to which he responded: "Honestly, I didn't. With all the accusations around me name, I wish I did."

Meanwhile, Amir has been accused of cheating more than nine times but previously said he is a “changed man”.

On their show, Meet The Khans, she revealed she forgave him but struggled with being branded a “gold-digger” and a “doormat” by social media trolls.

Unusual living arrangement

Although Amir and Faryal are going strong now, the couple briefly split in 2017.

Amir, who is worth £30million, has made his home in Bolton and lives in a lavish detached property with his wife and three children.

The lavish property comes with a massive walk-in wardrobe, a trophy room, a swimming pool and four bedrooms.

However, one aspect of the grounds is rather unusual - a second house that Amir brands his 'man pad'.

Amir insists the house is key to keeping his marriage happy - and Faryal agrees.

He told OK! Magazine: "I swear it's the best thing ever. I do think having a separate house has also made our relationship stronger because you’re not in each other’s face all the time.

"I still need my own space sometimes, to have my friends over and have a little chill. And Faryal can do the same."
