Television star Amanda Owen has issued a stark warning to fans after scammers targeted her family.
The mum of nine was forced to speak publicly just weeks after returning to our screens as part of her new Channel 4 show, Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids.
Owen, who calls herself the Yorkshire Shepherdess, said fraudsters were using sneaky tricks to try to earn money from viewers.
The new show features the family renovating some of their estate. But Amanda said she had discovered that scammers were pretending to impersonate her online and asking fans to send cash to help them in live-stream events.
Her agent, Jo, assured fans the Owen family would never ask anyone for money.
"Hi all, this is Jo, Amanda’s agent,” she said on Owen’s Facebook page. “Hope you’re all having a good weekend.
"It’s been brought to my attention this past few days that there are a number of FB pages springing up, which are passing themselves off as being in some way related to Amanda and/or the new series.
"This is just a quick note to confirm that this is the one and only official channel (verified with a blue tick) in relation to Amanda, along with the TV series, her books and any public speaking events we organise.
"If any FB pages make friends requests as if they were Amanda or anyone else in the family, please do not interact with them
"Please do not under any circumstances part with any of your hard earned money if requested to do so.
"We have had a problem in the past with pages pretending to offer live streaming events and asking people to buy tickets that don’t actually exist.
"Anything along those lines is bogus and the only place you will find legitimate posts is here.
"We will never ask you for money or make friends requests. This is purely a channel to let you all know when there’s some exciting news to share.
"Thanks for reading and please stay safe on the internet. Best wishes, Jo. x"
So who is Amanda Owen?
Here’s what you need to know.
Who is Amanda Owen?
Owen, 50, became a household name when she appeared, alongside her husband Clive and nine children, on the Channel 5 series Our Yorkshire Farm.
Their children are Raven, Reuben, Miles, Edith, Violet, Sidney, Annas, Clemmie, and Nancy.
There is a large age gap between some, with the oldest, Raven, now 23 and the youngest, Nancy, only eight.
The series explored her rural life but the pair announced they had split in 2022. It was later claimed she had had a five-year affair.
In a social media post in 2022, Owen said: "Clive and I have are sad to confirm that we have made the difficult decision to separate.
"This hasn't been easy, but we both believe it's the right choice for the future of our family."
Her husband spoke later about their split, admitting his "anger drove her away”. However, they remain on good terms, co-parenting and running the farm together.
The new Channel 4 show involves the pair attempting to restore a neglected barn on their property, but not without hiccups.
Owen recently admitted she felt “helpless” amid serious construction issues on the renovation. which temporarily halted the project.
The farmhouse has been derelict for several years and required a total refurbishment, including a brand-new roof. Work also stopped when “horrific weather” hit.
The show is broadcast on Channel 4 at 9pm on Monday evenings.
