Whiteley Byron Bay masterpiece under the hammer for $1m

A Brett Whiteley oil painting celebrating the sun and surf of Byron Bay has sold at auction for $1 million.

Never previously offered on the secondary market, Midday at Wategos Beach, Byron Bay was created during the summer of 1989-1990.
