White House Denies Withholding Information On Biden's Health

Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre speaks to reporters during a press briefing at the White House in Washington

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed concerns on Tuesday regarding a letter released the previous night, denying that it contained any new information not previously discussed during the briefing held the day before.

During the briefing, Jean-Pierre emphasized that much of the content in the letter had already been covered in the briefing, stating, 'A lot of what is in the letter was said at the briefing to be very, very clear. I said many of the things that were laid out in the letter was actually repeated right here behind this lectern at this podium yesterday.'

The letter explained Dr. Cannard's selection for Biden's physicals.
Karine Jean-Pierre clarified that the letter did not contain new information.
Dr. Cannard was chosen for his expertise as a neurologist.

The letter, issued by White House physician Kevin O'Connor on Monday night, clarified the selection of Dr. Kevin Cannard for President Biden's annual physicals. O'Connor explained that Cannard was chosen not specifically as a movement disorder specialist but rather for his extensive training and reputation as a neurologist at Walter Reed and across the Military Health System. O'Connor highlighted Cannard's broad expertise, which enables him to address a wide range of patient needs and medical issues.

The release of the letter coincided with mounting calls for President Biden to resign following a contentious debate performance that sparked concerns about his cognitive abilities.
