Whitburn are celebrating back-to-back promotions after they booked a place in next season’s East of Scotland Division One last night.
The Burnie have suffered just one league loss all season with their 2-0 away win over Hawick Royal Albert enough to seal the deal.
First-half goals from Ross Crawford and a Darren Liddell penalty put Darren Wilson’s side in control before a goalless second-half.
The Central Park outfit will now be eyeing up a second successive league title.
Having clinched the Third Division trophy in dramatic style on goal difference last term, they have more breathing space this time around as they head into the weekend sitting six point clear of second-placed St Andrews United and with a game in hand.
The two sides meet in St Andrews next weekend.
