ScotRail's reduced timetable will remain in place today despite the RMT calling off their Network Rail strikes last minute - meaning services will finish at 6.30pm.
Until yesterday (November 4), Network Rail employees were planning to walk out on November 5, 7 and 9. However, the RMT trade union confirmed that the planned strike action has been suspended to allow for further pay negotiations.
While this strike action does not involve ScotRail employees, safety critical signallers and maintenance teams walking out means that the operator cannot run full services.
Scots may be wondering what services are running, as ScotRail has been unable to reinstate its full timetable due to the short notice. Here is everything you need to know about ScotRail's services including what routes will be running and when they finish.
What services are running today?
In a tweet on November 4, ScotRail announced that despite the strike action being lifted, they will still be running a limited service. The tweet read: "Due to the short period of time available, the limited timetable that was due to operate during the planned strike action will remain in place for tomorrow ( 5 November)."
They added that they will update customers on the resumption of full service as soon as possible.
Currently, ScotRail says that it is planning to operate 12 routes on Saturday, 5 November, with services running between 7.30am and 6.30pm.
Routes that are operating today are as follows:
- Edinburgh – Glasgow via Falkirk High: two trains per hour
- Edinburgh – Delmuir: two trains per hour
- Glasgow – Hamilton/Larkhall: two trains per hour
- Glasgow – Lanark: two trains per hour
- Edinburgh – Glasgow via Shotts: one train per hour
- Edinburgh – Cowdenbeath: two trains per hour
- Edinburgh - North Berwick: one train per hour
- Edinburgh – Tweedbank: two trains per hour
- Edinburgh - Larbert: one train per hour
- Glasgow Queen St – Larbert: one train per hour
- Glasgow Queen St – Falkirk Grahamston: one train per hour
- Milngavie – Springburn: two trains per hour
The national rail operator added that customers should check their services ahead of time. While services finish at 6.30pm, trains will set off from their departing stations well before that.
Those planning to travel by train to the Scotland v Fiji rugby match have been warned that the last services to depart Haymarket station are between 5pm and 5.45pm.
A ScotRail update states: "We’re now working hard to restore the timetable quickly, but this will take time as the process involves changing rosters for staff, getting trains to where they need to be, and working with Network Rail to ensure routes are ready for services to operate."
Network Rail strike action was also due to take place on Monday, November 7. ScotRail has updated customers on services that will be available on Monday, stating: "We're in the process of reinstating as many services as we can for Mon 7 Nov, following the suspension of Network Rail RMT union strikes.
"Our app & online systems will be updated by tomorrow."
