It’s unclear just yet whether the New Orleans Saints will play their starters in the preseason finale against the Los Angeles Chargers — when asked directly about the status of starting quarterback Jameis Winston, all Dennis Allen could do was laugh off the question. Winston is one of 15 Saints players who haven’t yet taken the field in either of New Orleans’ two preseason games, with some of them held out of action due to injuries and others sidelined out of an abundance of caution. Playmakers like Alvin Kamara, Cameron Jordan, and Demario Davis don’t need a lot of time to warm up. Even if he were healthy, it feels unlikely that Michael Thomas would have seen many snaps so far.
