Where you can watch the Queen's funeral on a big screen in Manchester

The funeral of Queen Elizabeth II will be shown on big screens in Manchester city centre on Monday.

Manchester City Council has announced that the service will be projected onto screens across the city from 9am. Screens will be put up in Cathedral Gardens, Exchange Square and inside the Manchester Cathedral.

Mourners wishing to watch the service on them will not need to buy a ticket, town hall bosses said. Access to the areas will be limited once they reach full capacity.

Bag checks will take place before entry and people will be free to move in and out of the big screen areas throughout the day. People have been urged to come prepared for any bad weather conditions, as the screens at Cathedral Gardens and Exchange Square are outdoors, without cover.

A tweet posted by Manchester City Council this morning said: "Big screens in the city centre will show coverage of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's State Funeral from 9am on Monday 19 September. The screens will be in Cathedral Gardens, Exchange Square and inside Manchester Cathedral. No tickets are required."

A further tweet added: "There will be bag searches in operation and access to the squares will be limited when they reach capacity. People will be able to move in and out of the big screen areas through the day."

The Queen's official state funeral will take place in Westminster Abbey at 11am, before the procession makes its way to Wellington Arch and then on to Windsor Castle. A committal service will then be conducted in St George’s Chapel in Windsor.
