Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game has been on a bit of a West Coast kick lately.
The last few Midsummer Classics and accompanying festivities have taken place Coors Field in Colorado, Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles and now T-Mobile Park in Seattle. It’s understandable, given each of the three locations provide iconic settings, but it seems the league is ready to branch out to other areas of the country again.
While there are still some details left to be ironed out, the next few All-Star Games have been mostly locked in. Here’s where MLB fans should plan on seeing their favorite players get together in the coming years.
2024: Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas
The new billion-dollar, warehouse-looking ballpark in Arlington gets another crack at hosting one of Major League Baseball’s marquee events — and this time with a lot more fanfare.
During the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, MLB used the brand-new stadium as a neutral site for the World Series. This seems to be a bit of a reward for Texas’ efforts.
“The Rangers stepped up under difficult circumstances and Globe Life Field served as a terrific host for the 2020 Postseason, including the World Series.” MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said in awarding the game. We are excited to once again feature Baseball’s newest ballpark on a global stage.”
2025: To Be Determined!
Oh, the suspense!
Major League Baseball has yet to announce where it will send the All-Star Game in 2025 — though not for a lack of candidates. Back in December, Evan Drellich of The Athletic reported both the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs expressed interest in hosting the event.
Wrigley Field has held the All-Star Game three times, most recently in 1990, so MLB is definitely due for a return. Fenway Park has also hosted three times, but not since 1999 when Ted Williams was honored in a ceremony that’ll still give you chills.
Those are both two good options for baseball.
2026: Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Where else could MLB go to celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States? Especially after baseball set a precedent by hosting the All-Star Game at Philadelphia’s Veterans Stadium in 1976 for the bicentennial.
More importantly: the last time the Home Run Derby came to Bryce Harper’s home ballpark, he did this. Is he up to the task again in three years?
