Where to pay respects to the Queen in Scotland as Buckingham Palace issues full list

Scots have been invited to attend the national residences of the Queen to pay their respects following her death.

Upon the orders of King Charles III, the United Kingdom is officially in mourning from Friday, September 8 until seven days after Her Majesty's funeral. This period will be observed by the Royal Family, as well as royal staff and soldiers committed to royal duties.

Since the news of her passing on Thursday afternoon, Brits have gathered outside Buckingham Palace In London to pay tribute to the late monarch.

People in Scotland have also followed suit, as tearful mourners continue to line the gates of Balmoral Castle, the Queen's summer residence and notably one of her favourite places.

Until the Queen's funeral has been held on a date which has not yet been announced, royal residences will remain closed.

This includes Balmoral Castle and the Queen's Gallery in Edinburgh, as well as the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace and her Majesty's private estates.

As crowds continue to gather, members of the public who wish to pay respects to the Queen have been asked to do so in the following ways.

Here is how you can pay tribute to the longest-serving monarch in Scotland and the rest of the UK.
