Following the news of Takeoff’s tragic death, worried fans have been wondering about the status of his fellow The Migos bandmate and uncle Quavo, who was present during the fatal incident.
Takeoff’s representative confirmed his death, followed by police confirmation shortly after.
Takeoff – real name Kirshnik Khari Ball – was shot dead at a bowling alley in downtown Houston, Texas after a game of dice. He was 28.
According to Houston police, Quavo, who was present at the time of the incident, and Takeoff were at a private party prior to the fatal shooting.
In a following update, police tweeted: “Two other victims taken in private vehicles to hospitals.”
During a later press conference on Tuesday (1 November), the police chief said that a 23-year-old male and 24-year-old female brought themselves to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after the incident.
The news seemingly verifies that 31-year-old Quavo was not among those injured, however, his status remains unknown.
The Independent has reached out to Quavo’s representatives for comment.
Hours before the shooting, Quavo posted a video on Instagram. “We’re sliding through the town,” he tells his followers, adding that “the birthday boy” is also in the car.
Along with fans, police have urged those to remove graphic video footage of the incident that have been circulating online out of respect for Takeoff’s loved ones.
The hip-hop trio also includes rapper Offset, who is married to Cardi B. The pair share two children together, plus three others from Offset’s previous relationships.
Recently, Takeoff and Quavo released a music project as a duo, titled Only Built for Infinity Links.
They released their music video for the song “Messy” on Monday (31 October).
