Sian Reese-Williams is one of four University of Hull alumni taking part in a special episode of University Challenge this Christmas. The former-Emmerdale star who played Genesis "Gennie" Sharma (nee Walker) was the soap between 2008 and 2013.
She was the adopted daughter of Brenda Walker and a love child of Shadrach Dingle, who had an affair with Gennie's birth mother, she came to the village to find out more about her birth family.
Actress Sian was involved in some major storylines during her time on the show, most notably her dramatic departure. She will be joined on tonight's University Challenge alongside otehr University of Hull alumni, including playwright and screenwriter James Graham, dog trainer, author and TV presenter Graeme Hall and author Katharine Norbury.

During her time on Emmerdale, Gennie married Nikhil Sharma in October 2012 and the couple shared a daughter together, Molly Sharma (Maia Rose Smith). In July 2013, Gennie had a car crash when escaping Cameron Murray and Debbie in a car chase after she overheard him confessing to killing.
Cameron then suffocated her at the crash site when he saw she was still alive. Gennie was a huge hit with fans and many were saddened when she was killed off after only four years on the long-running soap. But where is actress Sian Reese-Williams now? After the Dales, actor Sian bagged a gig in BBC's soap Holby City as Jodie Rodgers. Other TV credits include playing Sara in 35 Diwrnod and Trudy Franken in Requiem.
She later appeared in season five of Line of Duty as Sergeant Jane Cafferty in 2019 and then went on to star in Pili Pala as Sara Morris and Tina Harcourt in Silent Witness. The actress also does a lot of work with Chichester Festival Theatre, which she regularly posts about.
The 40-year-old actress, is active on social media and she often keeping fans up to date with her latest ventures. She looks worlds away from her character Genesis Walker in her latest social media snap.
Sian took a selfie as she laying on a pebble beach with wet hair after hitting the waves. She captioned the snap: "I wear rash vests now". And according to her social media she appears to have taken on a new role as DI Lincoln in an upcoming project called Wolf.
She said in recent a post: "And that’s a wrap for D.I. Lincoln on #Wolf. "Thank you so much @hartswoodfilms for having me, I’ve loved every minute. I can’t WAIT for you all to meet this amazing woman in this brilliant show."
