• Beyond Paradise, a spin-off of Death in Paradise, is set in the fictional Devon town of Shipton Abbott, where DI Humphrey Goodman settles with Martha Lloyd.
• The series is not filmed in a real place called Shipton Abbott, but rather across various scenic locations in Devon and Cornwall.
• Looe in Cornwall is a prominent filming location, representing much of Shipton Abbott, including its East Beach and the Guildhall which serves as the police station.
• Other Cornish locations include Launceston for high street scenes, Port Eliot House and Gardens and later The Sardine Factory for Martha's cafe, and Pentillie Castle and Estate for the characters' homes.
• Executive producer Tony Jordan explained that the West Country was consciously chosen for its 'paradise' feel and genuine community atmosphere, fitting the show's needs.
