Where does Rishi Sunak live? All the houses he'll have access to as Prime Minister

Rishi Sunak is set to become the UK's next Prime Minister after his rival Penny Mordaunt failed to get the 100 backers needed.

The former Chancellor secured the backing of more than half of Conservative MPs ahead of today's 2pm nomination deadline, with Ms Mordaunt and Boris Johnson both withdrawing.

Sunak will become the richest resident in 10 Downing Street's history, with him and his wife having a combined wealth that even outranks the monarch.

The Conservative MP is married to Akshata Murthy, the daughter of an IT mogul who is reported to have assets worth around £3.5billion.

Earlier this year Sunak became the first frontline politician to be included on the Sunday Times Rich List of the UK's wealthiest people, with him and his wife being estimated to have a combined net worth of £730million.

Their shared wealth is clearly evident across the couple's lavish property portfolio, which includes four luxury abodes worth over an estimated £15million.

Here's all the properties Rishi and his wife Akshata Murthy own as well as the properties they'll have access to when he becomes Prime Minister.

Rishi Sunak currently lives in a lavish mansion in Kensington, London with his wife and their two daughters.

The couple bought the home a year after they married 2010 for a reported £4.5million but it's now estimated to be worth £6.6million.

The huge home features five bedrooms, four bathrooms and two reception rooms spread over four storeys and it also has its own private garden.

Prior to moving into the Kensington mansion, Rishi had been living at 11 Downing Street while he served as Chancellor of the Exchequer from February 2020 to July 2022.

But Sunak's luxury Kensington mansion isn't the only property he spends his time in.

As well as this, he has a Grade II-listed Georgian manor house in the village of Kirby Sigston, located in his Richmond constituency, which the family use as a weekend retreat.

Sunak and his wife purchased the house for £1.5million in 2015 and have been transforming the property, with a £400,000 swimming pool, hot tub, yoga studio, gym and tennis court.

According to a report by The Guardian, it could cost a whopping £14,000 a year to heat the swimming pool in the property.

As well as his five bedroom Kensington abode and his multi-million pound north Yorkshire retreat, Sunak and his wife also own two more properties.

This includes another property in Kensington and one in California.

Sunak's second Kensington property is a first floor flat on Old Brompton Road, which he purchased in 2001 while working as an investment analyst for Goldman Sachs.

It's now said to act as a holiday home for his visiting relatives.

Their California home is a Santa Monica penthouse purchased by Ms Murthy directly from the developer in 2014.

The luxury property, which features a view of the Pacifica Ocean, is valued at £5.5million by US property website Redin.

As well as his own lavish portfolio of properties, when Rishi Sunak becomes Prime Minister he'll also have access to even more properties.

Ministerial residences are properties assigned to ministers by the Prime Minister either on the grounds of security or to allow them to better peform their official duties, but the Prime Minister also gets use of some of these properties.

Firstly, Rishi would move out of his multi-million Kensington mansion to 10 Downing Street.

No 10 Downing Street features approximately 100 rooms and the residence of the Prime Minister comes with a an annual £30,000 public grant to spend on refurbishment.

Sunak would also get use of the sprawling Chequers country estate (PA)

As well as 10 Downing Street, there is also an official country residence for the Prime Minister and Rishi would get access to the stately home of Chequers in Buckinghamshire.

The 16th-century manor house is set in over 1,000 acres of English countryside, features 10 bedrooms and houses an extensive art collection.
