You know the college basketball season is right around the corner when the preseason KenPom rankings are released.
Michigan State basketball will open the season outside the top 25 in the preseason KenPom rankings — which were released on Monday. The Spartans came in at No. 35 in the preseason rankings.

Out of Big Ten teams, Michigan State is listed at No. 7. Here are the six teams ahead of the Spartans in the preseason rankings: Purdue (No. 10), Illinois (No. 23), UCLA (No. 26), Oregon (No. 29), Ohio State (No. 31) and Iowa (No. 33). Right behind the Spartans was Michigan (No. 36), Maryland (No. 37) and Indiana (No. 39).
Michigan State opens the season on November 4 against Monmouth. About a week after that, the Spartans will face Kansas — who is No. 6 in the preseason KenPom rankings — in the Chamions Classic.
