'Where does he fit in?' - Mohamed Salah sent Man City message over Liverpool contract

Danny MIlls has warned Manchester City to avoid a move for Mohamed Salah, if the forward does fail to agree a new deal with Liverpool.

Salah ’s future has been discussed at length in recent weeks with the 29-year-old yet to agree to a new deal with the Reds. When asked about the contract negotiations earlier this month, Jurgen Klopp said that Liverpool “cannot do much more” except wait for Salah’s final decision.

As it stands, Liverpool ’s talisman will enter the final year of his contract this summer. However, despite having already scored 28 goals across all competitions, ex-Manchester City defender Danny Mills has urged Pep Guardiola’s side to steer clear of Salah and questioned how well he would fit into the City squad.

“He’s not the right age profile for City. They’ve got plenty of talent in those positions already,” Mills told Football Insider .

“I’m not saying he wouldn’t get into the team but if he does then another quality player will drop out. Where does he fit into that?

“He’s an outstanding player but is that what City need? Look at Foden, Grealish, Mahrez, Silva, Sterling. They’ve got an abundance of attacking options in those wide areas.”

Responding to claims that Salah could stay in England even if he did leave Liverpool, Mills accused the forward’s representatives of “posturing” over their client’s contract and ruled out a potential Premier League move.

The Egypt international is one of several Liverpool players entering an important stage in their current contracts, but Jurgen Klopp has insisted that the team are unfazed by the speculation.

“No chance! This season everyone is completely committed,” the Liverpool boss said last week. "Some players don't play often enough, some aren't in the squad often enough, they could create a bad atmosphere but they don't, they will not.

“They have a clear commitment to this team, this season and when it is done, we will talk about the rest, whatever, the future, all these kinds of things.”
