Popular BBC drama Waterloo Road is returning to BBC One later this year and both the adult and young cast have been announced.

But what about the original young stars of the show? Many of the young actors and actresses playing the pupils in the original show have gone on to have very successful careers.
From Bridgerton to Doctor Who to British soaps, here are what the young stars are up to now.
Adam Thomas
Playing the cheeky pupil with a hidden heart of gold was Adam Thomas, in the role of Donte Charles. Adam has since gone on to star in Emmerdale as Adam Barton for nine years.
He also entered the I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! jungle in 2016 and he will be returning to Waterloo Road as the older Donte in the new series.
Katie Griffiths
Another young star returning to Waterloo Road as an adult in the new series is Katie Griffiths. She played Chlo Grainger in the original series and had an on-and-off romance with Donte.
Since Waterloo Road she has appeared in the TV film Coming Down The Mountain, the Only Fools and Horses prequel Rock & Chips, and Hatfields & McCoys.
Lauren Drummond
In the role of Chlo's sister, Mika Grainger was Lauren Drummond who remained in Waterloo Road for two years.
After Waterloo Road she starred in the BBC medical drama as Chantelle Lane from 2011 to 2013 and again in 2016. She has also had roles on stage including Jack and the Beanstalk.
Chelsee Healy
Another series one star of Waterloo Road to have a successful TV career is Chelsee Healy who played Janeece Bryant. Originally starring as a pupil Chelsee later played Janeece in the role of the school secretary.
Chelsee has also had major roles in the BBC medical drama Casualty and is currently playing Goldie McQueen in the Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks. She has also taken part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2011 and is currently starring in the E4 series The Real Dirty Dancing.
Craig Fitzpatrick
Craig Fitzpatrick played bad boy Lewis Seddon in the original series of the show and in 2020 was sentenced to 18 months in prison after he threatened a family with a machete.
Matty Healy
Before he shot to international fame with his band The 1975 Matty Healy, the son of Denise Welch who also starred in Waterloo Road, can be seen in the background of some Waterloo Road shots.
He has since gone on to release four albums with The 1975 all which reached number one in the UK album charts. The band has currently hinted that they will be releasing a fifth album.
Tina O'Brien
Starring as Bex Fisher in Waterloo Road, Tina O'Brien joined the sixth series of the show and remained in the role for a year.
In 2015 she returned to the ITV soap Coronation Street, as Sarah Platt, and has remained in that role since. She also took part in the 2011 series of Strictly Come Dancing alongside Chelsee.
Katie McGlynn
Playing the lovable character of Scout, from 2011 to 2013, Katie McGlynn has gone on to have main roles in other popular soaps.
She played Sinead Tinker in Coronation Street from 2013 to 2020, Becky Quentin in Hollyoaks for a year from 2021 to 2022, and took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2021.
Phoebe Dynevor
Now world famous Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor began her career on Waterloo Road as Siobhan Mailey.
She is now recognised for her leading role in the Netflix hit Bridgerton and has also starred in the 2021 film The Colour Room.
Rege-Jean Page
Appearing in the final series of Waterloo Road is fellow Brigerton star Rege-Jean Page. He played Guy Braxton and went on to star alongside Phoebe in Bridgerton finding international fame.
Jenna Coleman
Doctor Who star Jenna Coleman also started out on Waterloo Road as Lindsay in 2009 and since then has landed major roles in Doctor Who and ITV drama Victoria.
She played the lead role of Queen Victoria in Victoria and has also starred in the film Me Before You and played Doctor Who's companion Clara Oswald from 2012 to 2015.
Lucien Laviscount
Playing Jonah Kirby in Waterloo Road from 2010 to 2011 is Lucien Laviscount who has also found success in a Netflix series. He played Alfie in the second series of popular Netflix show Emily In Paris.
He has also starred in comedy-drama Snatch and entered the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2011.
Jodie Comer
Popular Liverpudlian actress Jodie Comer played Sarah Evans in series three of Waterloo Road.
She has gone to find success playing Eve in Killing Eve, starring in the Channel 4 drama The Help, and starred in Doctor Foster.
Sophie McShera
Joining the cast in series five was Sophie McShera, who played Rose McCain. From 2010 to 2015 she played kitchen hand Daisy Mason in the very popular ITV period drama Downton Abbey.
She has also starred in the Downton Abbey film and had a small role in Netflix's hit show The Queens Gambit.
Max Bowden
Graduating from Waterloo Road to EastEnders is Max Bowden who went on to play Ben Mitchell in EastEnders.
