GUWAHATI: For long, residents have been urging the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) to resolve the prolonged issue of dearth of night bus service in the city. They are hoping the candidates in the fray for the upcoming municipal election will take a hard look at the long-standing problem of commuters.
Despite being the most popular mode of communication in the gateway to the northeast, buses stop plying in Guwahati after 9 pm. App-based cabs are available at an escalated price at night, but not everyone can afford the service. Those in the less-affluent category, find it very difficult to return home from work and elsewhere after 9 pm on account of the paucity of transport.
