When will the next Prime Minister be decided? Here's when Boris Johnson will formally resign

The next Prime Minister and Conservative Party leader will be announced on September 5. The new leader will be revealed as MPs return to parliament following the summer recess.

The choice will now be in the hands of the 160,000 Conservative Party members. The result of this vote will determine the Conservative Party Leader and thus the next Prime Minister, which will be announced on September 5.
