It’s been a while since the Miami Hurricanes were on top of the college football world, despite having several national championships on their resume.
The Hurricanes’ last national championship was in 2001 early in the BCS era when they finished the season with a perfect 12-0 record, closing the season with a 37-14 victory over Nebraska in the 2002 Rose Bowl. With Ken Dorsey as Miami’s quarterback and a roster that included Frank Gore, Andre Johnson and Clinton Portis, that team was also voted No. 1 in the final Associated Press Poll that season.
In addition to 2001, per NCAA.com, Miami has also won football national championships in 1991, 1989, 1987 and 1983.
