Leeds is set to bask in soaring temperatures as summer well and truly gets underway this coming week.
Areas of the city are set to see highs of 26C next Saturday, with the sun making an appearance too. This week saw cooler temperatures and cloudy sky - putting a stop to half term trips to the beach, or at least forcing many to take a bigger jacket with them.
Thankfully, this will not continue., as as reported already by LeedsLive, the Met Office has said temperatures across the UK will rise in June as a mini heatwave hits the country.

In its UK-wide forecast for a week commencing Thursday, June 8, the Met Office said: "The start of the period will most likely be generally dry and sunny across the UK. However, cloudy with an odd spot of rain in the far north. Clouds should return from the North Sea overnight and move into central and eastern areas and burns away towards the coast each morning.
"Winds expected to be generally light in the North and a little stronger towards the South...Temperatures are expected to be warmer than average but chillier towards the eastern coast."
BBC Weather predicts that Leeds will be seeing highs of 26C just a week from now - with temperatures hotting up as the week goes on. Monday is expected to see temperatures of 21C, but they cool back down again to 19C on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday will see higher temperatures that will continue to rise from 20C, to 21C on Friday, 26C on Saturday and 26C on Sunday. These are expected to continue right through to Friday, June 16, where they will drop - but not too far only to 22C.
While this is incredible news, it also begs the question: "When will it end?"
It is, of course, difficult to predict the weather with great certainty over a longer period of time because "the chaotic nature of the atmosphere starts to come into play" and "small events currently over the Atlantic can have potentially significant impacts on our weather in the UK in several days' time."
Wales Online reports that according to the Met Office, up until June 16: “High pressure is expected to dominate, with light winds for many, except perhaps along the English Channel where the winds could still be fresh at times. It should remain often sunny, but some cloud is likely at times, especially in eastern areas, and particularly during the mornings. It is expected to stay dry in most areas though, but the odd shower is possible, mainly over high ground in northern parts at first, and then later in more southern parts.

"Temperatures overall will be a couple of degrees above average, perhaps more so later, and it will feel warm or very warm in the sunshine away from any cloud and wind in the east. Later in the period, the risk of some thundery rain or showers in the south increases slowly.”
After that, up until July 1: “High pressure is likely to become less dominant with time, especially in the south with low pressure likely to approach from the near Continent. Northern areas may hang on to the largely dry conditions, but southern areas will see an increased risk of occasional heavy rain or thunderstorms from time to time. Any changes will be slow though, and there will still be plenty of dry and warm, sunny weather between any rain or thunderstorms, with temperatures widely above average, perhaps significantly so.”
