Airing at the end of this year on The Roku Channel, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story sees Daniel Radcliffe portray the biggest-selling comedy recording artist of all time. The feature-length comedy aims to explore every aspect of Yankovic’s life, from his beginning interest in the accordion to his torrid celebrity love affairs.
Al is shown to turn his dream into reality, becoming an instant success and sex symbol in the process. Evan Rachel Wood features as a young Madonna while Dr. Demento (played by Rainn Wilson) discovers and rechristens the soon-to-be star.
Key moments in his life are intentionally exaggerated for comedic effect, with the trailer showcasing the evident humour throughout. Led by the Harry Potter star, the story appears to aim to be suitably wacky and over-the-top, including his troubled personality and relationship with Madonna.
