Based on Stephen King's classic tale (which was originally published under King's occasional pen name Richard Bachman), The Running Man stars Glen Powell as Ben Richards, a man who is forced to fight for his life in a bloodthirsty game show. The story has been filmed before, with Paul Michael Glaser directing a well-loved version in 1987, which famously starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The Running Man: Paramount Plus release date
If you held out from seeing the film at the cinema then, reader, your time has come – at least if you're in the US and Canada.
For those that were willing to pay up, The Running Man was made available to rent and buy on December 16, 2025, with a physical release coming later this year.
But it's the streaming date you're here for. The Running Man is distributed by Paramount Pictures, which means that it will make its streaming debut on Paramount Plus.
We looked back at some other recent films from the studio and speculated that it would follow roughly two months or so after its theatrical debut. To be precise, we predicted that The Running Man will be streaming on Paramount Plus from January 13, 2026 – and we were bang on the money. That means, at the time of writing, we are just hours away from the film popping into your Paramount Plus account. Exciting times!
