Leeds United will know of their Papa John’s Trophy group this week after the club were invited to enter their under-21 side. The Whites have been allocated ball number two within the northern section of the draw and will learn which group they are in come Thursday.
The draw will take place on Thursday, June 23 as part of the EFL's fixture release day, live on Sky Sports News at 11:30am, with fans able to stream via the Sky Go app or Now TV. Eight groups of three senior Football League sides have already been determined to minimise travel times between them, and the draw will add one under-21 side to each group at random.
Each EFL side will play two of their three matches at home in the group stages, where the opening tie will take place in the week of August 29th. Leeds’ under-21’s finished bottom of the group stage last season after being drawn in Group B with Salford, Oldham and Tranmere - they beat Oldham and lost to both Tranmere and Salford, picking up three points.
