When is the Champions League draw? Date, time and who Larne can meet in the first qualifying round

Larne are back in pre-season and counting down the days to their Champions League bow.

The Invermen will dine at European football's top table for the first time in their history after winning the Irish Premiership last season.

It is an exciting time for Tiernan Lynch's side who will be hoping to make their mark this summer.

And they will soon discover who their opponents will be in the first qualifying round.

Here's more info on the draw and who Larne can potentially meet.

When and where is the draw?

The draw for the first qualifying round of the Champions League will be held on Tuesday, June 20 at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. It usually starts at 11am UK time but that's still to be confirmed.

How can I watch it?

The draw is usually shown live on the UEFA website.

Who can Larne meet?

Larne are one of the unseeded teams in the draw, so they will come up against a seeded side in the first qualifying draw.

There are 15 seeded teams including:

  • Ferencvaros (Hungary)
  • Qarabag (Azerbaijan)
  • Slovan Bratislava (Slovakia)
  • Ludogorets (Bulgaria)
  • Sheriff Tiraspol (Macedonia)
  • BATE Borisov (Belarus)
  • Astana (Kazakhstan)
  • Maccabi Haifa (Israel)
  • Zilgiris Vilnius (Lithuania)
  • HJK Helsinki (Finland)
  • Flora Tallinn (Estonia)
  • Shamrock Rovers (Republic of Ireland)
  • TNS (Wales)
  • Olimpija Ljubljana (Slovenia)
  • Zrinjski Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina)

UEFA are likely to narrow the list of potential opponents into three groups of five, based on geography and coefficient rankings.

When are the ties played?

The games are scheduled to take place on either July 11/12 for the first leg and then on the July 18/19 for the second leg tie.

The draw for the second qualifying round of the Champions League will take place on Wednesda, June 21. Larne will discover who their potential opponents will be if they progress through the first qualifying round. Larne will also be entered into the Champions Path of the Conference League second round, and will face another beaten Champions League side, should they lose their own Champions League opener.
