Ever since the first season of hit Netflix show Heartstopper came to an end, viewers have been crying out for more episodes. The series, which first released in April last year, tells the story of a gay schoolboy who falls in love with his classmate.
Heartstopper is based on Alice Oseman’s graphic novel of the same name. The series has received critical acclaim for its faithfulness to the source material, as well as its portrayal of LGBT+ people.

What is the release date of Heartstopper season two?
Netflix have confirmed that season two releases on August 3 2023. In a special clip filmed for their teaser video, star Kit Connor said, "[Creator] Alice [Oseman]'s got some amazing scripts for us. It also feels cool and fresh, it has a different vibe to season one."

Who is in the cast of Heartstopper?
Kit, Joe and Yasmin return as Nick, Charlie and Elle. Supporting characters Tao (William Gao), Tara (Corinna Brown), Darcy (Kizzy Edgell) and Isaac (Tobie Donovan) are also back for season two.
Olivia Colman is expected to return as Nick’s supportive mother Sarah. Fisayo Akinade will also be making a comeback as Mr. Ajayi.
Leila Khan has been cast as Higgs Year 11 pupil Sahar Zahid. In the comics, Sahar is best pals with Truham and Higgs students including Elle, Aled, Tara, Nick, Darcy, Charlie, and Tao.
Elsewhere Jack Barton joins the cast as Nick Nelson's big brother David, as well as Nima Taleghani as Truman teacher Mr Farouk. Bel Priestly and Ash Self will play Elle's friends Naomi and Felix, and Call My Agent's Thibault de Montalembert takes on the role of Nick's father Stephane.
What is the plot of Heartstopper season two?
The official synopsis for Heartstopper season two was revealed by Netflix on April 24, and reads as follows: “Nick and Charlie navigate their new relationship; Tara and Darcy face unforeseen challenges and Tao and Elle work out if they can ever be more than just friends. With exams on the horizon, a school trip to Paris and a prom to plan, the gang has a lot to juggle as they journey through the next stages of life, love and friendship.”
