Elon Musk has announced he will interview Donald Trump online in the lead up to the 2024 election.
The billionaire has said the chat will be hosted live on Twitter, the social media platform he bought in 2022 and has renamed X.
While a previous Democrat voter, Musk allowed Trump back onto the platform after he banned him following the 2021 Capitol riots.
His own tweets have lurched increasingly to the right, to the point where he has engaged Sir Keir Starmer in a war of words.
Musk tweeted: “This is unscripted with no limits on subject matter, so should be highly entertaining!”.
He added that anyone with question ideas could post them beneath the announcement.

When is Elon Musk interviewing Donald Trump?

Musk tweeted earlier that it had been planned for 8pm ET, which is 1am on Tuesday, August 13 in the UK.
How to watch the Musk / Trump interview
The interview will be staged on X, although it is unclear exactly where within the site the debate will be.
It has also not been stated if it will be free to view or behind a paywall.
Trump is now back on Twitter but has hardly used the platform since launching his equivalent, Truth Social.
Who does Elon Musk support in the US presidential election?
Musk has had a frosty relationship with Trump and, in 2022, tweeted: “It's time for Trump to hang up his hat & sail into the sunset."
The South African-born billionaire became a US citizen in 2002 and has said he voted Democrat. But the billionaire has appeared to develop Republican sympathies in the past decade.
He has distanced himself from Joe Biden and his party over union strike action, while he was also not invited to an electronic vehicle summit in 2021 despite his ownership of Tesla.
Instead, Musk has endorsed Ron De Santis for the Republican candidacy – ultimately won by 2016-20 president Trump.
However, after Trump emerged as the White House contender, Musk has been increasingly sympathetic.
He has chimed in with support for anti-woke messages and also hit out at censorship to extreme ideas – principles that have seen him fit in with the ideals of the politician.
After the assassination attempt of Trump in July, he tweeted: “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery.”
He has, however, denied making donations of up to $45m (£35m) per month to Trump’s campaign, but has admitted, “I am making some donations to America PAC”.
