What is Downton Abbey: A New Era about?
The trailer revealed a number of details to the plot. Violet Crawley (Smith) announces a man she was previously close with has given her a French villa. The film therefore is set in France.
That won’t be the only celebration - widower Tom Branson and maid Lucy Smith get married. There are also a few new faces including Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye and Hugh Dancy.
The official synopsis reads: “The Crawley family goes on a grand journey to the South of France to uncover the mystery of the dowager countess's newly inherited villa.”
Although there is the indication that everyone is returning for the second film, there is one person absent which is Henry Talbot (Matthew Goode) and there are some fans who are worried that something terrible will happen to Lady Mary’s second husband in the new film.
