While Disney and Pixar landed a sci-fi box office bomb last year — I might have loved "Elio," but it definitely didn't pull in the crowds — Daniel Chong's newly-released caper "Hoppers" looks like it's on a different course, so far. The new movie sees 19-year-old Mabel (Piper Curda) using some newfangled tech to transplant her consciousness into the body of arobotic beaver so she can uncover the mysteries of the animal kingdom, and it might be another win for the animation studiosIn our "Hoppers" review, Malcolm McMillan called it "delightful" and "basically 'Avatar' but better," and it's drawn plenty of praise elsewhere, too. At the time of writing, this zany adventure holds 94% approval ratings from critics and moviegoers alike on Rotten Tomatoes, and it managed to pull in $88 million over its opening weekend, per BoxOfficeMojo. While all signs point to "Hoppers" being worth a family trip to the movies, not everyone wants to head out to see everything on the big screen. So, if you're skipping the movie theaters and instead waiting to stream "Hoppers" at home, here's my current guess at potential Disney+ and premium video-on-demand (PVOD) release dates for Disney and Pixar's newest adventure.
When is 'Hoppers' coming to streaming?
"Hoppers" hit the big screen on Friday, March 6, and that means that the only way you can watch it right now is by heading to your nearest movie theater, but here's when I think you might be able to watch it at home. The first place you'll be able to stream "Hoppers" will be via PVOD storefronts like Apple or Prime Video. Right now, I'd guess "Hoppers" will come to digital platforms in late April or early May, possibly on April 28 or May 5, 2026.That guess is based on how long we've typically waited to stream the most recent Disney releases. For example, the hugely popular animated sequel "Zootopia 2" came to PVOD storefronts on Jan. 27, 2026, 63 days after it hit theaters, and "Tron: Ares" and "Freakier Friday" took a similar amount of time (58 days and 62 days, respectively). Therefore, I looked 60 days ahead of the "Hoppers" release date and, seeing as Disney's movies have typically landed on PVOD on Tuesdays, I picked a couple of dates that would more or less match up to that projected 60-day wait.
If you'd prefer to watch "Hoppers" on Disney+, you'll have to wait a little longer. Right now, I'd wager you'll be able to stream "Hoppers" on Disney+ at some point in June 2026.Again, that guess is based on the wait for previous Disney releases. "Zootopia 2" hits Disney+ this week (March 11), 106 days after it first hit theaters. Likewise, "Tron: Ares" came to the platform 94 days after its theatrical debut, and "Freakier Friday" similarly arrived 97 days after its original release date. So, if we assume "Hoppers" will also take around 95-105 days to come to the platform and acknowledge that new movies typically come to Disney+ on Wednesdays, we're looking at a mid-to-late June 2026 streaming release for "Hoppers," with June 10 or 17 seeming likely release dates.This all comes with the caveat that Disney has not yet confirmed either a streaming or PVOD release date for "Hoppers," and is just my speculation.
