How does the draw work?

The eight group winners will be seeded and placed into Pot 1, where they will be drawn against the eight runners-up who are unseeded and placed into Pot 2.

As with the group stage, teams from the same nation cannot be drawn against each other in the round of 16, while teams who qualified from the same group cannot play each other either.

The teams who are in Pot 1 will play their first legs away from home.
