When is Casualty next on? Here’s our guide to every episode in 2024

Sometimes Casualty bounces around in the schedules, but you never have to miss an episode in 2024 with our handy guide to all the drama at Holby ED. And you know, there will be drama!

We’ve also included all our exclusives, interviews and news stories on everything Holbyland, which are available below the episode guide and spoilers. 

Please note: This is a live document that will be updated on a regular basis. We will bring you the latest transmission times and storylines as soon as we have them.

When is Casualty next on?

Casualty Christmas Special - All I Want for Christmas - Saturday 21 December 2024 - 9.20pm - BBC 1 and BBC iPlayer.

Casualty's Christmas special 2024 is called All I Want for Christmas and it airs on BBC1 on Saturday 21 December 2024 at 9.20pm. It will also be available on BBC iPlayer.

The special episode takes place on Christmas Day and, in Holby ED, the team are faced with an emergency blood shortage. Inside the hospital Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless) fights to save lives, while outside, Iain (Michael Stevenson) risks his own to ensure the hospital doesn't go without.

All I Want for Christmas will also feature real-life testimonies from contributors who’ve been directly impacted by UK blood donation, as well as interviews with key workers who form the country’s blood service.

Guest stars appearing alongside the regular Casualty cast are Lucy-Jo Hudson (Wild At Heart), Tristan Sturrock (Poldark), Joseph Charles (Breathtaking), Katy Carmichael (Spaced) and Valerie Antwi (DI Ray) .

Easy Way Out — Saturday 02 March 2024 at 9.20pm on BBC1

Trauma — Saturday 09 March 2024 at 9.20pm on BBC1

In the first instalment of a two-part special marking the end of original character Charlie Fairhead's closely guarded exit from Casualty, the veteran nurse vows to prove there is good in the world in the midst of unspeakable tragedy... with disastrous consequences for the nurse, who is left fighting for his life. Elsewhere, Stevie Nash is proven right, but her career is still on the line, and Sunetra Sarker makes a fabulous return as doctor Zoe Hanna.

Charlie — Saturday 16 March 2024 at 9.25pm on BBC1

In the final episode of A History of Violence iconic nurse Charlie Fairhead's life hangs in the balance following last week's shock stabbing. The poignant title is in honour of Derek Thompson's last outing as this legendary character, who has been with the long-running medical drama since its first episode aired on BBC1 on 06 September 1986. The big question is — will Charlie live or die? Either way, hankies at the ready! Elsewhere, Stevie Nash's crisis of confidence reaches a crescendo as the consultant faces a do or die situation, and paramedic Teddy Gowan is at breaking point after the previous episode's devastating events.

Casualty double-bill: System Failure and Core Wounds — Saturday 23 March 2024 from 8.25pm on BBC1

The post-Charlie Fairhead era of Casualty kicks off with a back-to-back double-bill and marks the beginning of new 12-parter Breaking Point.

In the first episode System Failure Rash Masum is in distress following his father's death, but insists that he's fine - will anyone spot that he's suffering as the pressure mounts at work? This episode also introduces hard-to-read new clinical lead Patrick Onley. 

In Core Wounds Rida Amaan questions her future at the ED after a catastrophic incident rocks her and Rash, new junior doctor Nicole Piper makes a shocking admission, and Jacob Masters is given a second chance when life throws him an unexpected curveball!

Dylan Keogh is faced with a heartbreaking and deeply affecting disaster when he doesn’t listen to Rash Masum during the course of duty. Red-Handed — Saturday 01 June 2024 at 8.30pm on BBC1

The penultimate episode in the Breaking Point 12-parter picks up after paramedic Teddy Gowan's suspension, as he's supported by his on/off ex, nurse Jodie Whyte. Meanwhile, Jacob Masters struggles to juggle caring for baby Carter while focusing on work and makes a shock decision! Elsewhere, incompetent Patrick Onley is up to his old tricks... which means Dylan Keogh and Stevie Nash must work extra hard to keep him away from patients — and spells bad news for anyone who gets in his way! Will the clinical lead be successful in enlisting star-struck Tariq Hussein to work against his cousin Rash Masum?

The 12th and final episode in the Breaking Point boxset is hotly anticipated to live up to its title by Casualty fans. And we can now reveal that it doesn't disappoint. 

There are tough scenes as doctor Rash Masum tragically reaches breaking point. His devastated cousin Tariq Hussein desperately fights for his cousin, while Rida Amann seeks to right a wrong by revealing a hard truth. Meanwhile, the ED team led by Stevie Nash band together to save a patient who means more to them than most. But will Dylan Keogh be distracted when he receives today's post?

After the Flood —  Saturday, 13 July, 2024 at 8.20pm on BBC1

Picking up in the aftermath of the storm that’s decimated Holby and had the city’s medics and paramedics working round the clock, we can reveal that nurse Cam Mickelthwaite (Barney Walsh) is haunted by his past, as it catches up with him while he is at his most vulnerable. 

Junior doctor Nicole Piper (Sammy Dobson) struggles with being in limbo with her surrogacy for friend Rosie Cornwall (Nicola Chegwin), is faced with an impossible decision. 

Paramedic Jacob Masters’ fears for his son Blake and grandson Carter are reignited. 

As for Stevie-Rich-Siobhan affair triangle? Let's just say things heat up significantly!

Casualty stays on BBC2 for Storm Damage episode 7, as there's live Olympic coverage on BBC1 this weekend. But the high-octane drama with our favourite medics remains as good as ever.

In this episode a desperate Jacob Masters faces another dead end in his search for Blake Gardner. He comes within a hair's whisper of finding him and, excitingly, Supacell actor David Ajayi makes his debut as the paramedic's troubled son.

Casualty Christmas Special - All I Want for Christmas - Saturday 21 December 2024 - 9.20pm - BBC 1 and BBC iPlayer

This seasonal outing of the medical drama is a thrilling gift for fans and one-off viewers alike, as the festive nailbiter - which includes moving real life stories from key workers and families directly affected by blood donation - makes for gripping viewing.

Inspired by the life-saving properties of blood donations, the Holby ED team pull together as they face a challenging Christmas Day shift when a multi-vehicle crash puts pressure on their dangerously low supplies.

Inside the hospital, the doctors and nurses battle to save patients, while outside the paramedics risk their lives in perilous, snowy conditions.

Off Duty — Saturday 28 December 2024, 9.15pm, BBC1 and BBC iPlayer

New 11-part boxset Public Property kicks off with an impressive opening episode, which is also the very last episode in 2024. 

The first half catches up with professional pressures and personal conflicts at the ED - from patient complaints to hostilities between Siobhan and Stevie over the clinical lead position. 

The second part involves the powerful juxtaposition of Jan giving trainee paramedic Indie (show newcomer Naomi Wakszlak) a reality check, while an off duty Dylan and Jodie are caught up in a tragic incident at a restaurant. 

With hard-to-watch frontline emergency medicine and something to say about the expectations placed on medics at its core, this is Casualty at its finest.
