Amazon Prime Day 2026: When It Starts and What to Know Before You Shop

In this photo illustration, the Amazon Prime Day logo is seen displayed on a smartphone screen.

Amazon Prime Day 2026 runs June 23 through June 26, with deals dropping across more than 35 categories for Prime members. The annual sale dates back to July 15, 2015, when Amazon launched Prime Day to celebrate Prime members during the retailer's 20th birthday.

While the main event doesn't begin until June 23, Amazon has already started rolling out select early deals. Additional offers and limited-time promotions are expected to be added as Prime Day approaches.

Below, we'll break down the Prime Day 2026 dates, explain how the event works and highlight what shoppers should know before making a purchase.

Prime Day 2026 begins on June 23 at 12:01 a.m. PDT and runs through June 26, making it a four-day shopping event exclusively for Prime members. The annual sale has grown significantly since its debut in 2015, when Amazon launched Prime Day to celebrate the company's 20th anniversary.

This year, shoppers can expect deals on electronics, home goods, kitchen appliances, travel essentials, beauty products, Amazon devices and everyday household items. While the types of products featured may vary, Amazon typically uses Prime Day to offer some of its deepest discounts of the summer.

As in previous years, Amazon plans to release new offers throughout the event rather than making every deal available on day one. The retailer says select "Today's Big Deals" promotions will be refreshed multiple times daily, and additional limited-time offers may appear throughout the sale while supplies last.

For shoppers, that means Prime Day is no longer a one-day event where the best deals disappear within hours. Instead, new discounts are expected to roll out over several days, giving members more opportunities to compare prices and decide which purchases are worth making.

Do you have to be a Prime member to shop Prime Day 2026?

Prime Day deals are reserved exclusively for Amazon Prime members. If you want access to the full range of Prime Day offers, you'll need an active Amazon Prime membership.

New subscribers can typically take advantage of Amazon's 30-day free trial, which provides access to Prime Day deals as well as other membership benefits, including free shipping, Prime Video and select member-only promotions. After the trial period ends, members can decide whether to continue with a monthly or annual subscription.

If you're considering signing up solely for Prime Day, it may be worth reviewing the membership benefits beforehand to determine whether you'll continue to use the service after the sale ends.

What to know before Prime Day begins

Prime Day 2026 begins June 23 at 12:01 a.m. PDT and runs through June 26, giving Prime members four days to shop deals across a wide range of categories. While the event can offer meaningful savings on everything from electronics to household essentials, not every discount is necessarily a bargain.

Before making a purchase, compare prices, stick to a shopping list and consider whether an item is something you would buy regardless of the sale. With new deals expected to drop throughout the event, shoppers may find the best value by taking their time rather than rushing to check out on day one.
