‘When I was at my lowest ebb, that hour of connection and hot lunch meant everything’

Amber was helped out of homelessness by the Clock Tower Sanctuary, which is supported by the Standard’s Winter Appeal with Comic Relief -

When Amber reluctantly dropped out of university because of mental health challenges and being neurodivergent, and returned to her mother’s house, she had no idea she was about to be made homeless — and endure the most traumatic 10 months of her life.

Born in west London as an only child, Amber had attended a private boarding school thanks to a generous bursary and her mother’s determination that she received the best education possible. But while Amber was at university, her mother’s mental health deteriorated sharply and she moved to a rehab facility.
