When does Winterwatch 2022 start?

BBC ’s Winterwatch will first air tonight, on Tuesday 18th January at 8pm on BBC Two.

From this day, the series will continue to air each weeknight for the next two weeks. The series will see a first for Winterwatch as three live wildlife hubs being set up to stream live footage across the programmes digital platforms.

This includes spotting roosting egrets to possible eagles on the Isle of Mull and wading birds on the marshland in Norfolk.

Who are the presenters of Winterwatch 2022?

Returning as presenters for this new Winterwatch series include conservationist Chris Packham, TV presenter Michaela Strachan and zoologist Megan McCubbin.

Sharing her delight to be returning to the Winterwatch 2022 series, Megan said "I can’t wait to see how the landscape and species at WWF Castle Espie have adapted to make the most of this beautiful season. It promises to be a series full of surprises.”

Also coming back to the series is Welsh nature observer and presenter Iolo Williams.

Speaking on his participation in this series, Williams said: "I’m particularly pleased to be returning to my favourite Scottish island, the stunning Isle of Mull with its eye-catching scenery and fantastic wildlife. As to what I’m most looking forward to seeing, that’s easy. Eagles, eagles and more eagles!"

However, Gillian Burke will not be part of the live presenting team of this series. However, she will still make appearances in the series through some pre-recorded footage she took in in the Cotswolds and the South-west.

Burke will be back to Winterwatch live presenting duties in Springwatch 2022.
