When does Roblox come to PS4 and PS5?

Roblox is arriving on Playstation 4 and Playstation 5 on Tuesday, October 10, and will be free to download and play for all users.

PlayStation is an obvious latecomer to the Roblox party; the game first launched on PC in 2006 and Xbox One in 2016, and it is also available on Mac OS and Android.

Roblox is one of the most popular online games in the world. It had over 164 million monthly active users during August 2020, and reportedly over half of US children under 16 were players at one point, having exploded in popularity over the pandemic.

Players can create their own games using the game’s engine, Roblox Studio, which can then be enjoyed by other players. These games, or “experiences” as Roblox calls them, have included everything from platformers to first person shooters and horror games, and some of the the most popular creations have clocked up over a million users. Roblox players can buy, sell and create their own virtual items to decorate their character.

It’s not just Playstation fans who may soon be getting access to Roblox on their preferred platform. There are as of yet no confirmed plans for a Roblox launch on the Nintendo Switch; however, Roman Skuratovskiy told the Verge in September that “there are more platforms to come”.

For Meta Quest users, the Meta Quest Roblox app became widely available in late September. And there could be more perks on the horizon for Roblox fans. In August, Roblox CEO David Baszucki said the introduction of AI features could one day give users access to Westworld type features, claiming users might be able to generate an “avatar or clothing 100 per cent through text prompts”.
