Scottish DJ Ken Bruce has officially left the BBC Radio 2 mid-morning slot for pastures new.
After an impressive 31 years on air presenting his weekday show, Bruce signed off, closing Friday’s programme with Golden Slumbers by The Beatles and paying tribute to his many listeners.
“And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make – and I have loved being here with you,” said Bruce, quoting from the Beatles song.
He added: “Thank you so much, and may we meet again somewhere.”

Bruce will be heading to rival station Greatest Hits Radio after leaving the BBC.

Bruce will be joining Bauer’s Greatest Hits Radio with Simon Mayo alongside Pat Sharp, Martin Kemp, Jackie Brambles, Kate Thornton, and Jenny Powell.
He will officially start his new show on April 3.

Bruce joined the BBC in 1997, starting off as a Radio Scotland presenter before moving on to present a number of different programmes.
His Saturday Late Show in 1984 was his first regular slot for Radio 2, and he quickly gained a legion of fans before fronting the Radio 2 Breakfast Show a year later.
Bruce then moved to mid-mornings in 1986, with his show becoming one of the most popular radio programmes in the UK, even taking over the popular breakfast show.
Bruce said of his success at the BBC that he wanted “to walk away while it’s the top thing”, which he certainly has achieved.
Bruce will be replaced by Vernon Kay, with Gary Davies stepping in in the interim.
